Read MoreSunrise City might only have 100.000 citizens, but it houses Florida’s second-largest mall. The shopping complex Sawgrass Mills takes up an area the size of 55 acres or 31 football fields, making it the 11th biggest mall in the United States. However, size is not everything, and shoppers in the Miami metropolitan area are demanding. It takes more than just a few discounts to attract loyal customers and play in the big league of American malls.
The designers of Sawgrass Mills were aware of this: The architecture alone, with its Mediterranean flair and lush palm trees, provides the perfect backdrop for shopping trips. Everything here is geared towards a comfortable customer experience: Parking on the extensive parking lot is free, all information is written in multiple languages, and guests enjoy complementary WIFI in the whole complex. So if you ask: “Is one of America’s biggest outlet malls worth a shopping trip?”, the answer is a wholehearted “Yes”.
Sawgrass Mills´ 350 stores offer the right product for every customer – although visiting all of them takes a bit of persistence and good shoes. Almost every well-known chain has its branch here: Fans of brand-name clothing flock to boutiques such as Ralph Lauren, Polo, Armani, Burberry and Hugo Boss, while giants like T.J.Maxx and H&M attract customers with their discount prices. Nike and Adidas provide a vast selection for sports fans, and Bed Bath & Beyond is your top pick for accessories and home deco. A wide range of daily products at fair prices fill the shelves in the department store Target. Children enjoy themselves in the Gameroom with its Arcade games, and BrandsMart USA is a heaven for electronics and hardware enthusiasts.
Never get lost again with the Sawgrass Mills Mall Map. You find the map together with a list of all 350 stores at 9 points in the outlet mall. For further information contact the Management Office. If you want to find your store even more efficiently, just save the map on your smartphone or print it out.
Even though Sawgrass Mills is not an outlet in the strict sense, amazing bargains can be struck here. Almost every store promotes discounts of up to 70% off certain items, and many shops offer deals for customers who subscribe to the mall’s newsletter. Pay special attention to signs saying “clearance”: These indicate that everything has to go, which means products are amazingly cheap.
If you are looking for particular items or shops, you should get the Sawgrass Mills Coupon Book. This booklet normally costs 19 USD, but thanks to the Vacation-in-Florida.net Voucher, you have the opportunity to get the coupon book for free. Just print out our voucher and show it at the information desk.
By the way: Clicking on Deals & Offers will reveal more information on sales, deals, offers of the day, special opening times and additional discounts. Just save the page on your phone or print it out.
“Black Friday” is a nation-wide shopping holiday that originated in the USA. Today, companies around the globe use this date to promote special discounts. The “Black” Friday after Thanksgiving marks the time when many stores start their Christmas sales, as well as the beginning of the number one shopping season for outlet centers. There are many other days with special sales at Sawgrass Mills, among them:
Vacation-in-Florida.net Special Tip: It pays to regularly check the homepage of the Florida Department of Revenue. On some weekends in the Sunshine State, customers do not have to pay sales tax, which lets prices for selected items drop dramatically.
Strolling through the mall with its myriad of shops is a fascinating experience, but one that might make you hungry. Luckily, there are multiple food courts in all sections of the Mall: Famous for its beautiful design is the Rainforest Café that serves local specialties in tropical surroundings.

Driving there from Miami and Palm Beach takes 35 minutes. If you are coming from Cape Coral, you will need approximately 2 hours, so staying overnight is a good option: The Sunrise Hotel is situated next to the mall, directly at the city’s beautiful canal. Sawgrass Mills features 350 stores. In addition, there are more than 50 restaurants, cafés andother culinary choices.
If you want to walk through the entire Sawgrass Mills Mall, you will cover about 1.5 miles. There is even a “Mall Walking Club”, whose members regularly visit the Sawgrass Mills Mall to exercise.
Not only that. Sawgrass Mills is the largest single-storey outlet mall in the USA. However, do not confuse it with a factory outlet where products of one manufacturer are sold directly at the production site. Instead, Sawgrass Mills features numerous shops that sell items at reduced prices.
Sawgrass Mills is located 17 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale Airport. Depending on traffic, motorists should account for a 20–40 minute ride if they take the Interstate 595. Getting to the mall by public transport takes at least twice as long and includes a stopover in Central Fort Lauderdale.
The distance from Miami International Airport to Sawgrass Mills is about 35 miles, or 35–55 minutes by car. If you do not want to drive yourself, you can take the Shuttle Service from the airport.
If you judge by customer reviews – yes. A majority of reviewers praise the huge variety of stores and restaurants, the many discounts and the mall’s appealing design. Most customers, though, agree that you should take out a whole day to visit the mall.
Located right next to Sawgrass Mills is the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Sunrise, a 3 star hotel directly by the canal. Rooms are available for 70–100 USD per night. 2.5 miles to the south, you will find an alternative in the same price range: La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Sunrise.
